I know that DIMPS have dug a hole for themselves with BL & IW. Neither of the game were very well recieved due to some weird design choices.
Because of this I know that Namco Bandai are extremely hesitant to let DIMPS make another game so i'm making this so NM can hopefully pass this along so that DIMPS can possible make a Budokai game that fans of their series want and not what they think. I feel as though if Naruto can have CONR & UNS that cater to both traditional fighting fans and ppl wanting a more authentic naruto experience then so can DBZ. Anyway here it is: GAMEPLAY Shin Budokai Another Road should be the base of the gameplay system as it was the best evolution from B3. SBAR aura dash should be in with the same properties it had before, it costs ki and absorbs 1 hit. Rush & Smash attacks should stay but the extreme priority of Smash attacks should be fixed. Bring back pursuits how they were in SBAR IMO SMASH attacks should have NO priority over Rush attacks; the only difference should be Smash attacks are slower, can be charged & can guard break when fully charged. SBAR's juggle system should also be in, which allowed alot more juggling than BL but doesn't allow infinites like B3 does. Also allow transformations to continue juggling air born opponents. KI & FATIGUE SYSTEM The Ki system should be like SBAR/B3 NOT auto-ki regen like BL. The fatigue system SHOULD be like BL. Also like in BL deathmoves should cost no ki. Mega Crash should be more like Barrier Burst in BlazBlue with its OWN bar instead of using the ki bar. -Increase the damage scaling -No aura spark, aura burn, hyper mode, super w/e modes AT ALL -Increase regular dashing speed to how it was in SBAR; BL's dashing speed was WAY too slow -NO dragon rush, stick twirling, button mashing sequences AT ALL. FEATURES Cancelling tutorial. Many ppl know about cancelling but not enough. A tutorial that teaches you about stuns, cancels and how they can be used would be great for new ppl getting into the game. Also a Trial Mode similar to SF4 would be ideal. It would be able to show nice and effective BnB combos for each character. ONLINE A GOOD NETCODE. BL's was absolutely horrid, and after seeing RB there's no excuse for why BL's was so bad. Have DIMPS ask Spike what they did to achieve the netcode they have because online is useless if its laggy. 6-person lobbies would also be good, of course with the ability to change that number however you want let it be 6, 4 or 2 ppl. 8 person tournament mode that allows everyone to vote on whether certain characters shouldn't be allowed. Allow the option for matches to go 1 at a time so everyone can watch each match or everyone plays their matches at the same time. *Records replays of matches and starts to deleted matches after 20 unless you save them. Also a online training. I don't understand why fighting games haven't done this yet. Instead of telling someone about something you figured out, you 2 can hop in an online training session and can show them and chat back and forth about it. * - Its not a neccessity but it would be good CONTENT Of course the standard story mode but cutscenes need to be like B1 not what DIMPS tried to pull in BL with all the recycled scenes. DIMPS going only up to the Cell Saga was a mistake. The roster should be that of SBAR like Pikkon, Future Gohan, Trunks (with sword & fighting Trunks as seperate characters because that was a good idea) etc. Trial modes and tournament mode should also make a return Well that's about it. UPDATES -Balance the damage between physical attacks & DMs. The DM at the end of a combo shouldn't be doing more than half of the damage. Make it not awful to not end a combo w/ a DM. -Make combos shorter. SBAR is good at this, BL was even better. Budokai games are pretty quick moving, but I think having overly long combos kind of slows the pace down unnecessarily. This could be done a couple ways, either by making baseline ki comeback faster, or doing a couple things w/ scaling to make doing these extremely long silly combos/infinites not practical in the actual game. -Adjust the ki amount that attackers gain while comboing. Especially if DM's are free. When you stand to lose 1/2 life per combo, and use a almost half your ki escaping everytime, it creates a slippery slope to losing, since the ki game is deep in the other player's favor. -Make moves track less so normal sidesteps are more viable. Give Burst Limit "All" of the cut-scene's! Take all of the cut-scenes out from Raging Blast and replace them with close-ups and keep the game completely real-time.I hate those damn cut-scenes that always take the difference out of My ultimate blast. If Adult Gohan hits Broly with his Super Kamehameha, the camera should remain the same for both players.Then, from Gohans offensive view, you should see Goten Flash in and start helping while Broly, on the defensive view, seems to be holding Gohan's blast off.Then, Goten should begin helping and right as the Kamehameha starts growing larger, Gohan's camera should move from behind him and zoom in on Broly's ast nished face.But not just any type of zoom, make it seem like it's someone else's view, as if their moving.Make the camera move like a person was holding it and trying to keep it steady.At the same time that this is happening, Broly's camera should pan out from behind him and zoom in on Gohan and Goten's faces(Epic zoom like Nuova Shenron's intro in BT3), then zoom out and show all of them from a higher view battling.Last, both characters camera angles should show Goku telling Gohan and Goten to give it their all as the blast engulfs then finally disintegrates Broly's body(If it's a finisher).No setting Triggers for the moving of characters from point A to point B for the cut-scene.All done with the same camera just edited lovely to make a beautiful experience. Namco Bandai should put Dynamic camera's in RB2 so they can finally leave those last-gen cut-scenes and step into Next-Gen with the Dynamic camera angling.Step into the future guys.Cut-Scenes suck! IMO And please honestly try and see what I'm trying to say before shooting my little opinion out of the sky guys.Cut-Scenes are not cool!Their repetitive!

I'll be honest I didn't read your post in full but I like the idea behind making it traditional/anime or as I like to call it hardcore/casual. But then again if you played B1-3 you'd know those games are just that. Loading the game with a simple and responsive scheme then you can get anyone to play. Make unlocking easy and and give customization a leveling up structure and you have yourself a game. Even the customization in BT2 and B3 weren't stellar I felt my characters were still my own. Thats just my take on it though.

Maybe not it'll just end up having to go to the buu saga instead of focusing of the series before the Z YEAH!! A Dragonball action/adventure game were you control Goku if done right this would be a huge change from the typical fighting genre.

that would b awesome if there was a budokai 4 i was never the biggest fan of tenkaichi, i thought budokai 3 was great imagine with new capabilities of these systems like ps3 the quality of transformations, cut scenes, fighting everything. They should make like a complete game every character in the series of gt and z and add new effects like ground rumble during charging...and of course online play. Instead of having 4 characters for goku they should make it 1 character that could have ingame transformations and during the select a character different costume selections. I guess all im saying is a new improved budokai 3 with every character in the gt and z series with online play and a bit more in depth story, and a bit new effects like ground rumble and more destruction lol. I guess im just a bit bored now and felt like posting this, but im coming a break from dragonball z since i havent really like any other game in the dragonball z series that came out after budokai 3
