Default Of SoulCalibur and Dot Coms

Hi! This is my first post on these forums. I wasn't entirely sure where to put this, since this is related a bit to these forums, but not entirely. I hope someone here will be able to help me out.

I've been a member of soulcalibur.com's community, and at one time was a moderator during it's SC3 run, since 2002. Recently the forums had been hiccuping and having small issues (mostly due to being a fairly outdated version of VBulliten) and suddenly soulcalibur.com disappeared, and as of tonight, it redirects here.

I was wondering when/if it would be coming back, as it has been an extremely large and active board not only for soul calibur players to share info and data on the game, but it helped bring a lot of us together on a local and national level in the form of tournaments and gatherings. I think it'd be a huge loss to the community, and to Namco, to not be able to have the dialog that was generated by it's players on the forums to continue, particularly with SC4 just around the corner, and a lot of people anxious to run tournaments for it. (Myself included, having ran major events in MI for the past few years now.)

Thanks, can't wait for SC4,

-Crow

I just wanted to show some support for the old soul calibur site. That site was a well respected site for accurate soulcalibur info. A place where people what were serious about the game came to meet and greet. If the place does not comeback through please post where the old gang is. I am surfing

Wow... just taking a quick look around here.

I hope there is a way to recover all the hard work that was put into sc.com by its forum members.

Thanks guys for echoing my concerns about lost data as well. Outside of contacting TharonMortis, who found most of the frame data we had, I don't know how we'd retrieve that. (unless some kind soul archived it already.) Years of work was put into the info there and it'd be harrowing to know that it got wiped.

Wow, seriously.. what happened to sc.com? Don't tell me that this is going to be the new "home" forum for Soul Calibur 4.. I mean look how disorganized it is. So much work and contribution was put into sc.com, and now it seems to be wasted effort.

Next thing you know, SRK and TZ are going to be shut down. What gives?

If SoulCalibur.com doesn't come back, I suggest we make soulcaliburuniverse.com the new forums for the hardcore and tournament players. Right now it's a site dedicated to the casual Soul Calibur players, but perhaps if we talk to the person who runs it, he can give it Soul Arenas, and Tournament Announcements/Results sections as well. Just like how SoulCalibur.com had it.

I find SoulCaliburUniverse looks pretty good. And if it does become the 'official' forums for the community, I'm even willing to contribute money towards it to get rid of those google ads.

Edit: I posted this idea on soulcaliburuniverse.com, right here: http://soulcaliburuniverse.com/forum...hp?topic=734.0

Oof good options. But honestly and I am sure to some degree everyone feels burned by Namco at this point. I would still like to hear from a moderator aka rep from Namco to see what they can do to help us retrieve all the hard work that was put into the sc.com site.

A response is the very least Namco can do to for consumers that tend to turn the other cheek and embrace a game that has numerous glitch and character balancing issues.

Somehow I doubt this place will be the same even if they added soul arenas and tournament announcements/results. SC.com had a lot of active moderators that really helped with the organization and managed the forums well. I doubt these namco forums have moderators that can ever compare to the mods we had on SC.com.

Aside that, what about all the Match finders? Despite this game having Online mode, I sure want a place to discuss/set up matches with local players around my area. I highly doubt namco will ever set up seperate forums just for one game (look how the forums are set up right now).

Agreed.. if SC.com doesn't come back, it doesn't look like we have a lot of options but that site. What I'd like to know is why sc.com was taken down in the first place? If it's any legal issues I sure hope namco has the courtesy to allow the sc.com database to be backed up on a seperate domain (if they want soulcalibur.com so bad).

Agreed, even if there's nothing that can be done, an answer of some sort would be nice.
